How the schedule works
Woodstock BJJ runs classes six days a week (Monday through Saturday) with morning and evening blocks designed to fit around school, work, and family life in Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, and the wider Oxford County area. Adult Gi (BJJ Basics) and NoGi sessions anchor the daily rotation, with a structured kids and youth pathway running in parallel.
Tots BJJ (ages 4–6) and Kids BJJ (ages 7–9) are kept short, dynamic, and game-driven so younger athletes build coordination and confidence without burning out. Youth BJJ (ages 10–12) introduces real positional sparring and sets the foundation for our Teens (13–15) and adult programs. The Women's Only class on Tuesdays and Thursdays follows the BJJ Basics curriculum in a smaller, supportive room — a popular entry point for women trying martial arts for the first time.
Choosing your first class
If you've never trained before, BJJ Basics (Mon / Wed / Fri evenings) is the right starting point. The format is the same every session — warm-up, technique demonstration, partner drilling, optional positional sparring — so you'll feel oriented inside the first week. NoGi runs Tue / Thu / Fri evenings and is best layered in once your fundamentals are solid; the pace is faster and the rule set is open. Open Mat on Friday afternoons is informal training time for current members to drill or roll without a structured curriculum.
What to bring
For Gi classes (BJJ Basics, Kids, Teens, Women's, Tots): a clean Gi if you have one, a rashguard or t-shirt to wear underneath, and a water bottle. We have loaner Gis available in adult and youth sizes for your trial classes — just ask at the front desk. For NoGi: rashguard or t-shirt plus board shorts or athletic shorts (no pockets, no zippers). Either way, bring flip-flops or sandals to wear to and from the mat — Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu hygiene rules say bare feet only on the mat itself, never in the lobby or washrooms.
Arriving 10–15 minutes early on your first visit gives Coach Ryan or the day's lead instructor time to walk you through a short waiver, give you a quick tour, and pair you with a senior student who'll look out for you during the session. By the second class you'll know the layout and can settle straight into warm-ups.
